Pinto: 'I wanted Angelina to adopt me'

Freida Pinto has revealed that she wanted to beg Angelina Jolie to adopt her when she first met her.

The Slumdog Millionaire star, who shot to fame after starring in the film about life in Mumbai slums, said that she was in awe of Jolie when they met at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Pinto told Bang Showbiz: "I think she's a lovely person who is there for people who are just starting off, for starters like me. She said, 'Just enjoy this because you never know if it's going to happen again.'"

She continued: "She's a lovely lady. I don't know what else she said to me, but I wanted to go up to her and say, 'Adopt me!'"

Pinto said that her life has been transformed since she starred in the Oscar-winning movie, saying: "I have to pinch myself! It's like a dream come true but we had a little message in Slumdog Millionaire - 'It is destiny.' So that's what I'm going to embrace it as and enjoy life."
