Jones denies Mayer romance reports

Rashida Jones has rubbished rumours that she is dating singer John Mayer.

The pair were rumoured to be together after they were reportedly spotted having dinner at Chateau Marmont at the weekend.

At the time, a source said: "John took the guitar from someone who was performing at the Chateau and performed an impromptu performance for Rashida... The crowd went wild when he performed his new song."

However, a representative for the actress quashed the rumours, saying: "She was having dinner with friends - totally independent of him. He came over to the table she was at with her friends, said hello to everyone, [and] asked if he could play the guitar that her friends were already playing."

The rep added that Mayer's performance was "not directed at anyone".

Mayer has previously been romantically linked to celebrities such as Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
