Mercy uncle 'fights Madonna dad visit'

Mercy James's uncle Peter Baneti has expressed opposition to Madonna's plans to visit the child's biological father in Malawi.

Madonna adopted Mercy in June, three years after adopting David Banda from the same country.

The singer reportedly wants to visit Mercy's biological father James Kambewa to ensure that her daughter is not disconnected from her roots.

However, Mercy's uncle Peter Baneti told Us Magazine: "We do not recognise Kambewa as Mercy's father.

"He just came out of the woodwork to claim paternity while he was not there when my sister was pregnant."

Prior to Mercy's adoption, Baneti said that he would fight attempts from Kambewa to prevent Madonna becoming the mother of the child.
