Gordon Ramsay has reportedly revealed how he underwent a painful beauty treatment to have the deep grooves on his chin filled.

The F Word host admitted that he was advised to undergo the surgery by Simon Cowell after his recent success in the US.

He told Radio Times: "My mother said they were smile lines. I could deal with that at 21, but not at 42. Simon Cowell suggested that now I'm a success in America, I should do something. So I had a filler put under the deep crevices. It hurt."

Ramsay also praised his "brilliant" wife Tana and claimed that the media storm that followed his rumoured affair "made us incredibly closer with the support of friends like David and Victoria [Beckham] and our families".

He added: "Holy mackerel! Some women columnists are much more vicious than men. Bitter. Vindictive. But Tana's resilient, a young mum of 34 who dedicated eight years to bringing up our children brilliantly."
