Shane Richie's father dies from cancer

The father of former EastEnders star Shane Richie passed away from cancer on Monday.

Harry Roche died, aged 65, at Hammersmith hospital, West London, where he was admitted last week.

"Harry had been struggling with the cancer for some years but went downhill last week," a family friend told The Sun. "Fortunately Shane was able to come to the hospital to be with his dad for his remaining days."

Richie, 45, fell out with his ex-binman dad during his youth, but the pair made up ten years ago.

The source added: "Shane was holding his hand when he slipped away, which was pretty emotional. He's very upset but is drawing strength from his family."
