Cher son 'living in body for first time'

Cher's 40-year-old son has said that he feels like he is living in his "body for the first time".

Chaz Bono, the former daughter of the 'Believe' singer and late ex-husband Sonny, revealed earlier this year that he had begun the process of undergoing a sex change operation.

The star explained that he has had his breasts removed and is on a permanent regime of hormones, Entertainment Tonight reports.

He stated: "The most important thing about this for me is that my outsides are finally starting to match my insides. I feel like I'm living in my body for the first time, and it feels really good.

"Still not anywhere near what I will look like, but really for the first time I am feeling much more comfortable with how I look physically."

Chaz added that he "shave[s] about once a week now", saying: "It kind of started to come in just like peach fuzz. I always wanted to shave. It is a very natural process. For my birthday I got a lot of shaving stuff."

In June, Cher said that she "will strive to be understanding" over her son's transition.
