Jackson autopsy picture surfaces?

A high-resolution picture of Michael Jackson's body taken during his autopsy has reportedly been offered to TV executives.

The image is believed to show the late singer's head with his eyes wide open on a metal table.

A description of the photograph on The Daily Beast claims that Jackson's "face is stripped of any make-up" and his "tattooed eyebrows are the only other visible mark".

The picture is currently thought to be in the hands of a Los Angeles restaurant owner, who has shown it to several local TV studios.

LA Coroner's office chief Ed Winter said that he was aware of rumours that an autopsy photograph may have leaked. If genuine, the image would likely prompt an "internal investigation" and possible police enquiry, he added.

A post-mortem on Jackson's body was carried out on June 26, a day after his sudden death.

The star's passing has since been ruled homicide.
