Mayer 'caught with knife at airport'

John Mayer was caught trying to smuggle a knife onto a recent flight, according to reports.

The singer was stopped with the blade as he passed through a security checkpoint at New York's JFK Airport on October 19, says Star magazine.

It is believed that the airport guard did not confiscate the weapon, instead letting Mayer hand it to his chauffeur.

A source said: "John got busted carrying a pocketknife through security.

"But when the officer realised who it was, he got so starstruck that he let John go and gave him back the knife, so long as he didn't take it on board."
