Nicolas Cage's father dies, aged 75

Nicolas Cage's father August Coppola has died at the age of 75.

The professor at San Francisco State University passed away on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack, Cage's spokeswoman Annett Wolf told The AP.

Coppola was the brother of Godfather director Francis Ford and Rocky actress Talia Shire.

The star is also survived by his sons Christopher and Mark, and five grandchildren. He was the uncle of filmmakers Sophia and Roman as well as actor Jason Schwartzman.
