Seacrest 'knife-wielding stalker' arrested

The man who attempted to enter the E! building with a knife has been identified as Chidi Uzomah.

The 25-year-old was recently arrested for allegedly attacking Ryan Seacrest's personal security guard. He was charged with assault and battery and weapons possession, following claims that he choked and fought with the American Idol host's minder.

Just before 10am (PT) today, Uzomah was apprehended in the lobby of the cable network's building, E! reports.

A three-inch knife was discovered on his person when he was detained and placed in handcuffs, before being turned over to members of the Los Angeles Police Department. Security guards reportedly recognised him from a photo that had circulated around the organisation after the previous incident, for which he served 15 days in jail and is currently on three years' probation.

His car was searched and among the items uncovered were a screwdriver, towels, a blue tarp, clothes, a spare pair of shoes and maps of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

Uzomah was removed from the premises, where Seacrest also performs his morning KIIS-FM radio show, and is currently being questioned by the Threat Management Unit.
