Butler: 'Being fired made me famous'

Gerard Butler has reportedly revealed that being fired from his previous job made him turn to acting.

The Law Abiding Citizen star, who graduated from law school, has said that he now considers being dismissed from his former profession "the best day" of his life because it laid the path for him to become an actor.

The 39-year-old told Us Weekly: "I was one week away from qualifying as a lawyer, and I was fired... That was the worst day of my life, now it’s the best day of my life."

The Scottish native has recently been romantically linked with singer Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.

Law Abiding Citizen is currently playing in the US and arrives in UK cinemas on November 27.
