An estimated 43,741 people ran in the annual race, including actor Edward Norton and singer Alanis Morrissette, People reports.
The pair used their involvement in the marathon to highlight the plight of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, which provides health and educational services to indigenous people in Tanzania and Kenya.
"I would absolutely do it again," Norton said. "I had a great time! It was really fun to do it with friends and for a good cause. We were enormously successful with our fundraising."
Morrissette, 35, stated that she planned to run before sharing a "telepathy twin moment" with her brother Wade about joining.
"My assistant Leah and I were talking about doing a marathon together, and then my twin brother literally sent me an email saying within two days of me deciding I want to do one... saying, 'Do you want to do a marathon together?'" she explained.
"So I said yeah we're having one of those telepathy twin moments so my twin brother is doing it with me and Leah and a bunch of friends are going to come out and support."
In 2007, Katie Holmes finished the 26.2 mile trek in just under five hours.
