Fiona Phillips: 'I need to be stretched'

Fiona Phillips has admitted that she does not want to become a full-time mother.

The broadcaster stood down as a GMTV anchor last December because she wanted to spend more time with her sons Nathaniel, 10, and Mackenzie, 7.

Asked if she is enjoying being home more often, Phillips replied: "Yes, but I'd be lying if I said I wanted to be a full-time mum, because I don't. I adore my sons, but I've worked since the age of 11 and need to be stretched."

The 48-year-old told New magazine that she will soon be seen fronting a festive-themed ITV1 show which is due to air in December.

She explained: "It's going to be on four Sundays in a row in the run-up to Christmas. It tells the story of Christmas and it's really sweet."

Phillips has also reportedly signed up for a 2010 Sky1 project called Forces Reunited, billed as Surprise Surprise for the armed forces.
