Robert Pattinson has spoken out about the media frenzy that follows him wherever he goes.

The Twilight star was hounded by fans and the paparazzi while he filmed romantic drama Remember Me in New York over the summer.

It was even alleged that he was clipped by a taxi as he attempted to flee a group of female admirers, although Summit later played down the reports.

Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, he said: "At least that's an experience, something new. If it's just screaming - and I know this sounds so ridiculous - that gets old. But sometimes when there's literal chaos, it's like being in a war zone, and that's kind of exciting."

He added: "You're just running through the crowd of people chasing after you and no-one knows what's going on."

Pattinson also joked about gossip bloggers speculating about where he is when he decides to stay at home, saying: "If I'm not out, I've had a heroin overdose. It's one thing or another."

He can next be seen in New Moon, which arrives in cinemas on November 20.
