Model quits industry over weight comments

Gemma Ward has decided to quit her modelling career after being criticised for gaining weight.

The model, who disappeared from the fashion industry after her rumoured boyfriend Heath Ledger's death last year, was recently subjected to attacks on an international fashion website for having a fuller figure.

A spokesperson for Ward's modelling agency told Australian newspaper The Sunday Telegraph: "Gemma hasn't committed to returning modelling at any time soon."

Ward was pictured last week celebrating her 22nd birthday in New York with Sports Illustrated swimwear model Jessica Gomes.
