Agassi: 'I shouldn't have married Shields'

Andre Agassi has opened up about his failed marriage to actress Brooke Shields a decade after their divorce.

According to Contactmusic, the former tennis champion confessed that the couple were always a terrible match for each other, but that he blames himself for their ill-fated union.

He explained: "[I was] 27 years old, ranked 141 in the world and in a marriage that I shouldn't be in... I didn't want to be playing tennis either so my life was filled with things I didn't want, things I didn't choose.

"Part of it was an inability to find a place for anything really."

Agassi divorced Shields in 1999 and later married fellow tennis star Steffi Graf in October 2001. They share 8-year-old son Jaden Gil and daughter Jaz Elle, 6.
