Peter Andre accepts libel damages

Peter Andre has accepted "substantial" libel damages over false allegations made by a magazine about his personal life.

The popstar took legal action against IPC media after its Now publication claimed that he had misled the public by presenting himself as a loving father and husband throughout his marriage to Katie Price, BBC News reports.

Andre was present at London's High Court when the case was heard in front of Mr Justice Eady today. His solicitor Gordon Williams explained that Now had suggested the singer may have been responsible for two accidents suffered by Price's disabled son Harvey.

Williams continued: "Separately, Mr Andre was also said to have demanded sick sexual threesomes from his wife, which horrified her and which she did not enjoy, feeling used and like a sex doll. As a result, Mr Andre was said to be lying in portraying himself as a loving father and husband."

Speaking later outside court, Andre would not confirm the amount of damages he received. After adding that he was "pleased" Now had accepted its story was untrue, he said: "I take my responsibilities very seriously. I would never do anything to hurt my children, whom I love very much."

The 'Behind Closed Doors' singer has two children - 4-year-old Junior and 2-year-old Princess - from his relationship with ex-wife Price.
