The singer wore a bulletproof vest under her leather jacket throughout the 40-minute trip, the Daily Express claims.
A squad of bodyguards also accompanied the 51-year-old, along with the state governor.
It was previously reported that Madonna is in Rio de Janeiro to raise funds for a new children's charity.
