Halle Berry: 'I'm proud of Rihanna'

Halle Berry has revealed that she is "proud" of Rihanna for ending her relationship with Chris Brown after he assaulted her earlier this year.

The Oscar-winning actress, who has 19-month-old daughter Nahla with boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, recently said that she used to be attracted to abusive men because she grew up witnessing her father attack her mother.

Berry is quoted by Perez Hilton as saying: "Any time a woman frees herself from that kind of bondage and that kind of situation I'm proud."

Talking about her childhood, Berry added: "My mother was a battered woman and that was my childhood for a good chunk of it. Early on in my life, I made choices, and I chose men that were abusive because that was what I knew growing up."
