Regis Philbin to undergo hip surgery

Regis Philbin will take a break from co-hosting Live with Regis and Kelly to undergo hip replacement surgery in New York.

The 78-year-old is expected to return to the air in four to six weeks, reports Studio Briefing.

"It really is painful," the TV star said about his hip problems on Monday's episode.

Philbin is reportedly planning to leave the morning show when his contract expires in 2011. The National Enquirer claims that he will be replaced by CNN's Anderson Cooper.
