Newton "a loner" before hotel trashing

Matthew Newton has been described as looking "like a loner" on the evening that he is believed to have destroyed a hotel room.
The Australian actor, who booked the room in the name of his girlfriend, Transformers star Rachael Taylor, allegedly caused $9,000 (£5,000) worth of damage.
An onlooker at the GQ magazine Men Of The Year awards party told The Daily Telegraph that Newton "looked like a loner" at the event but did not seem to be drunk.
Staff at the Vibe hotel in Sydney said that there was a lamp ripped out of the wall, plaster damage, scratch marks in the carpet, smashed glass and a melted flat screen TV.
Newton's publicist said that the Underbelly star was not in the room when the damage occurred.
