Meryl Streep has revealed that she does not like to be photographed.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the Oscar winner opened up about her feelings toward the paparazzi and their cameras.

"I hate to have my picture taken!" she said.

The 60-year-old appears on the cover of Vanity Fair's January 2010 issue. The profile story on Streep features 30 years of portraits by Brigitte Lacomb, who described the star as a person who lacks any sense of vanity.

The photographer also said that she does not think there is ever a moment when Streep "is enjoying the process of being photographed. Most actresses, or women, will find a moment where they enjoy being looked at, if it is in the best light and with good intent. I don’t think Meryl has that moment - ever".

Streep will next be seen in It's Complicated, opening December 25 in US cinemas.
