Former Brookside actor Jennifer Ellison has finally called time on her pop career.
Since leaving the soap in 2003, the 21-year-old released two singles - 'Baby I Don't Care' and 'Bye Bye Boy' - both of which bombed in the charts. Not even winning ITV's Hell's Kitchen reality show could improve her sales, so now she's decided to depart planet pop with some dignity.
"When I got into pop I found it wasn’t so much about the singing as about how cool you were," she explained, adding: "How can you expect to be given a fair chance when no one will give your record radio airplay?"
