P. Diddy Twitter account hacked

P. Diddy was targeted by internet hackers in the early hours of yesterday morning after a prankster managed to hack into his Twitter account.

The star - real name Sean Combs - is known for his regular use of the social networking site and keeps fans updated on his thoughts and whereabouts every day.

However, followers were stunned to read a supposed tweet from Diddy advertising a cell phone store in New York, Contactmusic reports.

The post read: "Go cop your new phone from Verizon Wireless... in Tribeca."

Despite that, Diddy noticed the bogus post minutes later and alerted his followers to the web attack. He responded: "Don't go cop no new phone from nowhere in Tribeca... Someone tried to break into my Twitter. lol (sic)."

Britney Spears was also the victim of an internet hoax last month.
