Bec Hewitt has won a court case against Australian magazine New Idea after it published an untrue story about her.

The former Home and Away actress, who is married to Aussie tennis star Lleyton Hewitt, was accused of having an affair with a "hunky" male nanny named "Mark" in April but later proved that the man in question was her brother Shaun Cartwright.

A judge yesterday ordered that the magazine must hand over "all evidentiary material in its possession" so that Hewitt may discover who sold the false story.

The ex-soap star will, however, have to pay the publication "reasonable compensation" for the time it will take to find the documents that she needs.

Once the paperwork has been found, the case will return to court next year.
