Gatorade has announced plans to discontinue a drink endorsed by Tiger Woods, according to CNBC.

The PepsiCo-owned company made the announcement yesterday, however insisted that it had not been influenced by recent events in Woods's personal life.

In a statement, it said: "We decided several months ago to discontinue Gatorade Tiger Focus along with some other products to make room for our planned series of innovative products in 2010.

"We hope to share more about our 2010 plans soon."

Woods was taken to hospital on November 27 after crashing his car into a tree and a fire hydrant outside his Florida home, sparking a wave of media speculation surrounding his private life.

According to The AP, the decision to drop the drink was reported by trade publication Beverage Digest in its November 25 issue, and the magazine's editor John Sicher is quoted as saying that he learned of the decision around November 9.

Tiger Focus debuted in 2008.
