The Mean Girls star has signed on to front a programme for the corporation investigating the trafficking of women and children.
She reportedly visited rescue centres, spoke to female victims of trafficking and distributed gifts to children in hospital.
Speaking to People, her mother Dina said: "Lindsay is home from India now - I am so proud of her for going."
Lohan, 23, previously claimed that she was having "the most amazing time" of her life in India, adding on her Twitter account: "Focusing on celebrities and lies is so disconcerting, when we can be changing the world one child at a time... hope everyone can see that."
