The News of the World claims that Sarah Ferguson is hoping to create her own "lifestyle brand" and sell copies of family heirlooms.
She has allegedly already held talks with QVC producers and pitched a range of royal-themed products including bedding and silverware.
"She's desperate to create her own lifestyle brand," a source said. "She said she'd never cash in on her name or sell out the Royal Family but that's precisely what she's doing - and why she doesn't want them to know what she's up to.
"She told staff to go round her house photographing items that could be replicated and sold with her own 'S' logo on. Some of it has been passed down through generations. One plan is to make dolls' houses based on the Queen's miniature childhood cottage at Windsor.
"QVC executives seem keen and Sarah's happy to go on TV and sell the stuff. She's still got fans in America and that's where the money is."
Earlier this year, Ferguson hosted a two-part ITV1 documentary about life on a council estate.
