Model-cum-TV host Gail Porter and Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave have split.

Porter has announced the split, which apparently took place eight months ago following a famously troubled relationship since their marriage in 2001.

She told the Daily Mail: "Dan and I have broken up. We separated eight months ago, but have tried to keep it quiet.

"I've not a single bad word to say about Dan because he's a lovely guy and a great dad, but he's not the right person for me. It's not sad.

"We have a good friendship and a lovely baby. No-one died. Life moves on."

She also revealed that she would have left her if she were in Dan's position as she suffered from post-natal depression after the birth of their daughter, Honey.

Speaking to the newspaper, she explained: "I was euphoric when I was with Honey. But generally I felt inadequate and I couldn't stop crying. It was rotten for Dan. Had I been him, I would have left me years ago."
