Spears 'most searched celeb of decade'

Britney Spears has been named the most searched person of the past decade.

Ask Jeeves carried out a poll to find out which famous person had received the most online hits within the past ten years.

A spokesperson for the online search engine told Sky News: "Britney Spears began the decade as a fresh-faced new superstar on the block and has remained as high profile ever since."

Osama bin Laden took second place on the list, followed by footballer David Beckham and the late Princess Diana. Also mentioned are Tony Blair, Simon Cowell, Brad Pitt, Madonna and Jade Goody.

Spears hit the headlines in 2007 when she divorced Kevin Federline, shaved her head, fought for custody of sons Sean Preston and Jayden James and was admitted to a psychiatric ward.
