While the Babyshambles frontman avoided jail for driving offences, he was arrested shortly after leaving court for possessing a controlled substance.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire authorities has since confirmed to NME that Doherty has been charged with drugs offences.
"The 30-year-old from Wiltshire who was arrested in Gloucester yesterday has been charged with possession of heroin and has been bailed to appear at Gloucester Magistrates court in January 2010," they explained.
