McFly announce US plans

McFly: American ambition

Teen rockers McFly are hoping for better success than most British acts with a bid to crack America.

The group, who recently won a Brit Award, are planning to release an album Stateside to coincide with their movie debut opposite Lindsey Lohan in comedy Just My Luck.

The album, recorded in New Orleans last month, will merge songs from their first UK record with fresh tracks featured in the film.

"We're going to do a different album for America to the one we've released in England because we've moved on since then," band member Tom Fletcher told the Daily Star.

He added: "I'm so proud of the new songs. We haven't intentionally changed the music, it's just naturally changing. The recordings we got back from New Orleans sound amazing. People will think, 'Oh, is this McFly?'"

The group's predecessors, Busted, failed in their bid to make it big across the pond shortly before they decided to split altogether.
