Franz Ferdinand to headline V2005

Franz Ferdinand have confirmed that they will be headlining the tenth V Festival alongside Scissor Sisters.

The band will play Staffordshire's Weston Park on August 20 and Chelmsford's Hylands Park on August 21, reports the NME.

Frontman Alex Kapranos said: “We heard about what a great festival V was to play last year and wished we could’ve been there. We’re really excited to be playing the main stage and co-headlining with the Scissor Sisters - we’ll be sure to give fans a performance to remember.???

The NME quote festival director Bob Angus as saying: “With Scissor Sisters, and now Franz Ferdinand confirmed to perform, we’re confident that this year’s V Festival will live up to its reputation for fantastic live music. There’s more news to come and we look forward to unveiling an unparalleled main stage joint headline act, who, with these two acts, will make for unbeatable electric atmosphere!???

Franz Ferdinand won the awards for best rock act and best British group at the Brit Awards last week, while Scissor Sisters won in international categories for best group, best album and breakthrough act.
