Brittany Murphy buried on Christmas Eve

Brittany Murphy was buried last night at a private ceremony in the Hollywood Hills.

The ceremony for the late actress, who died of a heart attack on Sunday, included readings from The Little Prince and the traditional Jewish prayer the Kaddish.

Murphy's husband Simon Monjack also delivered a eulogy in which he described the Clueless star as his "soulmate".

After the ceremony, Murphy's family released a statement saying: "Brittany was an incredibly loving and passionate person and an artist to her core - she loved acting, singing, dancing and performing.

"A bright light that lit the world is forever dimmed, but will live on in the hearts of those that Brittany touched."

Murphy's cause of death is expected to be announced in four to six weeks.
