The Clueless and 8 Mile star, who was married to screenwriter Simon Monjack, reportedly died from a cardiac arrest at her LA home on December 20.
According to Us magazine, Murphy's cousin Tayebe Pajooh is listed as the informant but her estranged father Angelo Bertolotti was not named on the documents.
The official paperwork says that the actress's cause of death is "deferred" and "pending investigation". It is believed that these details will be confirmed early next year after toxicology results are returned.
It was recently reported that some songs from Murphy's unreleased album may be released next year. A music executive said: "People are definitely interested in Brittany. She could end up having a hit song or two."
