McConaughey confirms birth of daughter

Matthew McConaughey has confirmed reports that he has become a father for the second time.

The Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past star and partner Camila Alves welcomed daughter Vida Alves McConaughey yesterday at 12.13am. She weighed 7lbs 7oz.

"Vida is Portuguese for life and that's what God gave us this morning," explained a statement on the actor's official website.

"Camila's recovering wonderfully and we are both truly honoured to welcome this little lady into our family... thanks for all of your well wishes and prayers along the way, another blessed day, we give thanks."

McConaughey and Alves are already parents to son Levi.
