REM resume European tour

REM are ready to continue their European tour now that bassist Mike Mills is fit enough to perform.

Mills was taken to hospital before the band's gig at Sheffield's Hallam FM Arena on Monday. Michael Stipe and Peter Buck came onstage to perform a brief acoustic set without Mills, but postponed the concert proper until July 15, for which the tickets will still be valid.

The band also cancelled their date at Glasgow's SECC last night as a result of Mills' illness, but he has now been declared well enough to perform again, so the tour will resume as planned, starting at Birmingham's NEC.
