Jury selected in Jackson trial

Jury selection in Michael Jackson's trial for alleged child molestation has been completed ahead of schedule.

Four men and eight women, ranging in age from 20 to 79, were sworn in late Wednesday morning by Judge Rodney Melville.

Among the jurors were a woman who admitted her grandson has registered as a sex offender, a man who likes Country music and a woman who has a relative who died in one of the hijacked planes on September 11.

Selection of the panel from the initial pool of 750 candidates was expected to last weeks but actually took just five court days.

Attorneys on both sides have now moved on to selection of eight backup jurors. Opening statements could begin as early as next week.
