Whitney Houston has been rushed to hospital in Paris for "a severe bout of gastroenteritis."

The singer first exhibited signs of the condition, which is an inflammation of the stomach and intestines, while on a flight to the French capital.

Whitney's publicist told reporters: "Whitney Houston was rushed to a hospital in Paris because of severe vomiting. She was sick on the aircraft. She is doing well."

In 2002, the Bodyguard star admitted hard drug use including abuse of cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs, but not crack cocaine because it was "for poor people." She added that she had since overcome her addictions through "prayer and faith."
