Madonna, Sean Penn deny date rumours

Madonna and Sean Penn have denied rumours that they went on a date together.

The couple, who were married for four years in the 1980s, sparked reports of a reconciliation when they were spotted together at a New York restaurant.

However, Madonna's representative has now explained that the singer was dining with a group of people and just happened to be in the same place as Penn.

"Sean stopped by the table and sat for a very brief time - 15-20 minutes - and Madonna then continued her dinner," the spokesperson told Gossip Cop.

The representative added that reports of a romantic date involving Penn and Madonna are "such an exaggeration".
