Police are not seeking anyone in connection with the death of 70-year-old Helen Sarfas, who passed away at her home in Gillingham, Kent, on Friday.
The Bond actress, who is rehearsing for the West End production of The Little Dog, was told of the tragedy by her family.
"Gemma will be crushed by this," a source said. "It is incredibly sad for the family. She adored her nan. Helen was a vibrant, outgoing and community spirited woman who adored her family." A spokesman for Arterton said: "It's a private matter."
