The former Black Flag frontman has taken his spoken word tour to a number of nations criticised by former US President George W. Bush, including Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Pakistan.
Rollins told The Times: "These trips are not easy, they're not exactly fun, and they're not cheap. I put my money where my mouth is so that when I get on stage I'm not doing girlfriend jokes
"I'm going, look, here's how I got into the Union Carbide site on the 25th anniversary of the gas leak there, here's how I ducked armed guards. People give me their evening, it's my responsibility to give them two hours of a unique perspective that I burnt lean calories to get."
He added of US policy: "People don't like being humiliated. The idea of respect and honour is so deep in the Middle Eastern world, and when you kick a guy's door down in front of his wife, he never gets his balls back from that.
"The only way he gets them back is to kill you. It's like when you talk s**t to a 19-year-old, he's got to get back at you. And I think American foreign policy has walked up and said, 'What's up, f*ggot?' to a lot of cultures."
