The former Sugababe, who was ousted from the group after a reported rift with bandmates Amelle Berrabah and Heidi Range, joked that there was a risk she could shoot someone.
"Going to the beach and then on to the Gun range.... pray for me and all around!!! lol (i get really shakey)," she wrote on Twitter.
The 25-year-old, who flew out to the US city in December, has updated followers with progress on her solo material.
"Just been working on my album... Still in LA, Thanks 4 ur support and tweets:-D (Hi 2 my new twitters...I see more fit faces ;-))" she wrote.
The singer previously revealed that she hopes to reunite with former bandmate Mutya Buena on her solo material, while R&B singer Ne-Yo is said to be eager to help break her in the US.
Buchanan duetted with Jay Sean on track 'Far Away' on his new album All Or Nothing.
