Erin McNaught has been announced as the face of Pepsi's new Hit Refresh campaign.

The former Neighbours actress, who was recently rushed to hospital with a severed finger after falling off a motorbike during filming, reportedly beat fellow MTV presenter Ruby Rose to win the role.

An industry insider said that Rose had been "passed over" in favour of McNaught, adding: "Erin has been working really hard and put in the extra mile with MTV and Pepsi, even filming parts of the campaign with her arm in a cast after her accident."

A spokesperson for MTV told The Daily Telegraph: "Ruby is an MTV and Vodafone brand ambassador and is currently featuring in a major TVC campaign launching this Sunday and with Erin's recent addition to the team, the timing was perfect to involve her."
