Fiona Phillips: 'Price has a big heart'

Fiona Phillips has praised Katie Price after the glamour girl backed her calls for Alzheimer's sufferers to receive more help.

The former GMTV host has campaigned for a variety of Alzheimer's-related issues after watching her father and late mother develop the disease.

Writing in her column for The Mirror, Phillips commented: "[Last] Monday I presented a Dispatches programme for Channel 4 looking at how care for Alzheimer's sufferers and support for their carers has changed over the past year. It hasn't, by the way, and that's backed up by the deluge of correspondence I've received this week.

"I've also confirmed that Katie Price has a very big heart. She saw the programme and tweeted: 'Just watched a doc with Fiona Phillips an' she touched my heart. I'd like to say what a good woman she is - keep up girl :) xx'.

"Thanks, Katie, I will, even though the main political parties don't seem to be making Alzheimer's a healthcare priority in the run-up to this year's election."

Phillips left GMTV in December 2008 to spend more time with her family.
