Darren Day admits to drink driving

Darren Day has pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while over the legal alcohol limit.

Appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today, the 41-year-old also admitted that he had failed to stop and give his name and address after an accident in Edinburgh.

Day was arrested and charged by police last month after being stopped by officers following an incident in the Scottish capital.

The actor had also been accused of driving carelessly, losing control of his car and crashing into a lamp post, but prosecutors accepted a not guilty plea to this charge today. Not guilty pleas to two other charges were also accepted.

Day will be sentenced for drink driving on February 10. In the meantime, he has been banned from holding or obtaining a driving license.

February 10 will also see the former I'm A Celebrity... star standing trial over an allegation that he was in possession of a Kubotan keyring weapon at the time of his arrest.
