Leno gets Jackson joke green-light
Published Friday, Mar 11 2005, 20:15 GMT | By James Welsh
Tonight Show host Jay Leno has received the go-ahead from Judge Melville to tell Michael Jackson-related jokes.
Today, the judge in the Jackson trial was hearing motions - one of which had been filed by Leno asking for an exemption to Judge Melville's gag order. Leno has been subpoenaed to testify during the trial, and therefore under the terms of the gag order was prevented from discussing the case.
"I am not attempting to prevent anybody from making a living in the normal way that they make their living," Judge Melville said today, issuing a clarification to the original order. He added that Leno should not, however, discuss any specifics to which he was a witness.
