WENN
Gossip Cop reports that users of the social networking site forwarded a faked CNN story which first emerged in 2004.
"RIP Johnny Depp" has also become one of the site's trending topics, meaning that it is one of the most talked-about subjects on the service.
However, the reports, which suggested that Depp died in a car crash, are untrue.
Kanye West, Britney Spears, George Clooney and Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley have also been the subject of death hoaxes in the past.
