Psychologist: MJ not paedophile

A child psychologist to testify in Michael Jackson's trial told police that the star "doesn't really qualify as a pedophile. He's really just this regressed 10-year-old."

Dr. Stanley Katz offered this evaluation to police after interviewing accuser Gavin Arviso and his brother concerning the molestation allegations.

The Smoking Gun reports that he told Detective Paul Zelis of the Santa Barbara police that Jackson "is a guy that's like a 10-year-old child. And, you know, he's doing what a 10-year-old would do with his little buddies. You know, they're gonna jack off, watch movies, drink wine, you know. And, you know, he doesn't even really qualify as a paedophile. He's really just this regressed 10-year-old."

In an interview between Katz and Gavin Alviso, the accuser expressed knowledge of Jordy Chandler, who accused Jackson of molestation but allegations were dropped after his family settled with Jackson in 1994. This will no doubt surface in defence attorney Tom Mesereau's suggestions that the false allegations are a means of extortion.

However, the site also reveals that Katz felt that the accuser "feels caught" in the proceedings and is not motivated by financial gain. He said: "I don't think they see the financial motive here because when I sat down with [the accuser]," Katz continued, "I said,'...look, if you go ahead with the civil lawsuit your family will get money if you win.'" When he told the boy that his identity could become public via such a legal proceeding, Katz said, "he sat there and started crying. So I don't feel like you know, from [the boy]'s point of view at all, this is something he wants to do. I think he feels really caught."
