Ashley Judd to write memoir

Ashley Judd is working on her first autobiography, she has revealed.

The actress will detail the events of her troubled childhood and how her experiences led her to women's and children's advocacy work.

In recent years, Judd has devoted more time to charity than acting and currently serves as a Global Ambassador for YouthAIDS.

"By sharing my own story along with those of the beautiful and resilient people I've met in the most desperate places, I want to show how the change we seek in the world must start within us," Judd said in a statement released by Ballantine Books.

Judd recently appeared alongside Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in The Tooth Fairy and is currently working toward a mid-career master's in public administration at Harvard University.

The currently untitled autobiography is expected to be released in 2011.
